Another Victory in Congress!!

Senate Votes to Prohibit Reading Miranda

Rights to Terrorists Captured in Afghanistan.

Every victory we win in the struggle against radical Islam brings us one step closer to our ultimate goal of protecting America’s security and freedoms from this evil threat.

On June 11^th we emailed you the Weekly Standard article that reported the following disturbing news:

“…the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee.”

News reports like this one, along with our email alert to over 60,000 ACT! for America members, raised the profile of this issue significantly. We wrote some Members of Congress about it, and we got the attention of some of them.

Less than four weeks after we sent you this email report, during a Senate Committee on Armed Services hearing, Senator Jeff Sessions introduced Senate Amendment #1661. According to a response letter we received on August 4th from another Senator, Amendment 1661 “would prevent Miranda rights from being provided to suspected Al Qaeda terrorists who are detained by members of the U.S. military or intelligence community.”

The amendment was approved by voice vote and included in the overall Defense Authorization bill, which then passed the Senate 87 to 7. We are optimistic this amendment will be retained in the final House-Senate version of the bill, and then become law.

Most people aren’t aware of this significant congressional action. It wasn’t on the front page of newspapers around the country. But who knows how many acts of terror will be thwarted in the future due to intelligence obtained from captured terrorists who are not read Miranda rights?

Most Americans do not know they are protected from lawsuits being filed against them when they report suspicious activity. Most Americans don’t know authors in New York writing about terrorism and radical Islam are protected from intimidation lawsuits filed against them in other countries. And, should this latest Senate action become law, most Americans won’t know that future terrorist acts will be thwarted thanks to intelligence gathering that is not shackled by the absurdity of reading Miranda rights to captured enemy combatants.

ACT! for America and its “sister” organization American Congress for Truth played a role in each of these important victories.

Can Anyone Define a “Successfully Rehabilitated” Jihadist?

Check this BBC video about some of the 500 jihadists released from Guantanamo Bay. They have the ignorance to use the term “successfully rehabilitated” half way through the clip. They’re either blissfully ignorant, or willfully wussified, because not-so-Great Britain has their own Muslim problems right in their own backyard, and non-Muslim British citizens know it! So who are they trying to convince here….

 

 

And when are U.S. troops going to get fed up with mollycoddling these avowed haters of all that is non-Muslim, and go postal on them? Probably not while Commander In Chief Obama is busy coddling an evil regime like Iran, and apologizing to the world for our misdeeds (and isn’t that hysterical considering the threats and a very real death toll that Islam propagates daily).  (Thanks to Weasel Zippers for these clips). This is Neda Soltan (shot in the streets of Iran), who just wants her vote to count. (CAUTION: extremely graphic) (and keep in mind this “graphic” stuff happens frequently under Islamic rule. Your own Muslim neighbors – even if they are not violent – desire that Islam (and Sharia law) would rule the United States. We can’t keep pretending this stuff doesn’t exist, or the threat is not that important, or that we just don’t understaaaaand them (one Catholic cardinal – who doesn’t understaaaaand Islam – proclaimed recently). I can see evil by it’s consistent deeds as supported hundreds of times from Islam’s holy writings, can you? Evil must be resisted; it will not be placated.

TO: President Obama RE: Guantanamo Bay

Dear Mr. President,

 

I am against the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility for the following reasons:

• First, a couple days ago you swore to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States. The benefits enjoyed by that constitution (including “rule of law,” “Miranda rights,” “habeas corpus” and all of that) are for US citizens only. Foreign terrorists, who have sworn to destroy the United States are not afforded the same rights. Military tribunals are appropriate for these prisoners.
• Second, Islamic radicals are driven by an unstoppable single minded goal of following Allah for the conversion, submission or death of infidels. They will use every means possible, every weapon possible, and exploit every weakness to the accomplishment of this goal. Some form of non-permanent coercion is necessary to elicit information that could protect millions of US citizens. And if information cannot be gleaned, then they need a place where they can hold these non-US enemy combatants indefinitely. Al-Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups were not finished after 9-11. Those plotting our destruction with WMD’s or other means cannot be released. Again, military detention facilities are appropriate for this.
• Third, currently these dangerous prisoners are separated from freedom loving Americans by bars, Marines, guns, walls, barbed wire, and 100 miles of ocean. That will not be the case if you bring them over here for “trial.”
• Fourth and lastly, closing Guantanamo Bay and treating Islamic terrorist prisoners “nice,” may play well for a few in the international community, but for the 200 million Islamic radicals out there who only understand raw power, they will see us as weak for closing Guantanamo, and they will be emboldened to exploit this weakness.

Please allow the Guantanamo Bay detention facility to perform it’s vital and unique function: protecting US citizens from terrorists.
